Philosophy Club Meetings on God, Atheism, and Morality

There are many reasons to start a philosophy magazine. One such reason is that we are witnessing the decay of commonplace intellectualism. That is, everyday people no longer engage with philosophy. I find that to be one of modern Western society’s greatest flaws. See this article for a more complete argument on why.

Another reason for The Noble, though, is that philosophy is plain fun. Discussing whether objective morality exists in a group of enthusiastic amateur philosophers is delightful. Learning more about yourself and others is charming. Arriving at some greater truth after a rigorous, respectful discussion feels enlightening. There is a certain deep humanness in joining what wonderful scholar Mortimer Adler called the Great Conversation: humanity’s never-ending conversation on the most fundamental questions surrounding our existence: why are we here? What are we here to accomplish? What is beauty?

I hope that through my writing you will feel at least some sense of passion for the field that I brings me and many others much joy. It is never my objective merely to convince you of my viewpoint; it is my hope that, after reading an article, you will have been provoked to think for yourself and make progress on your own self image.
